Baseball Recap: Nevada Union Has No Trouble Against Central Valley

After only one run in their last contest, Nevada Union made sure to put some runs up on the board against Central Valley on Wednesday. The Miners blew past the Falcons 13-3. With that victory, the Miners brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Brogen Lyden made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Nevada Union is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-12 otherwise. Lyden was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Chris DeSena looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nevada Union is 3-1 when DeSena allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-12 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Logan Eandi was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Van Matre, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Nevada Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Nevada Union moved to 10-13 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Central Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Nevada Union didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against Shasta on the 16th. As for Central Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-0 loss against University Prep on the 22nd.
