Argonia/Attica has gone a perfect 5-0 against Fairfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Titans are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Argonia/Attica will be strutting in after a victory while Fairfield will be coming in after a loss.
On Friday, Argonia/Attica got the win against Norwich by a conclusive 30-6. With the Titans ahead 22-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Argonia/Attica can attribute much of their success to Carson Vineyard, who gained 112 total yards and four touchdowns, and Maddex Hemberger, who threw for 118 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. Hemberger also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making eight total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Argonia/Attica proved: they limited Norwich to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Jordy Torres-Roman for the heroic effort on defense: he. Argonia/Attica didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.5.
Argonia/Attica didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Hemberger, Vineyard, and Konner Nelson picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Fairfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Central Christian, falling 50-0. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Cougars are ranked sixth).
Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Argonia/Attica, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Everything came up roses for Argonia/Attica against Fairfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 58-12 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
