Basketball Recap: Omaha Westside Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Omaha Westside extended their winning streak to five games thanks to a huge performance from Emre Gedik. The Omaha Westside Warriors walked away with a 70-62 win over the Millard West Wildcats on Thursday thanks in part to Gedik, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 24 points and seven steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game.

The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Odvody, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 boards gave him a new career-high.

Millard West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reece Carson, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. Jayden Kozney was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Omaha Westside pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Millard West, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Omaha Westside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-42 win against Grand Island on the 21st. Millard West and Papillion-LaVista South will round out the year against one another at at 5:15 p.m. on December 28th. Papillion-LaVista South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.8 points per game this season.
