The Meadville Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Franklin Knights at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Last Friday, Meadville beat Oil City 58-48. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Meadville has scored all season.
Meadville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lucas Luteran led the charge by dropping a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Luteran's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Burchard, who scored 18 points along with five assists.
Meanwhile, Franklin sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 53-50 win over Mohawk Area on Sunday. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Mohawk Area is ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meadville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Franklin, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
