Montague took their match against Ravenna on Friday by a conclusive 42-15 score. The lopsided score is just par for the course this season for Montague, who can brag about six blowout wins.
Montague got off to a slow start in their matchup last week, but they had no such trouble against Ravenna as they cruised to a 21-point first half. Ravenna wasn't quite able to keep up, scoring 15 to make it 21-15 heading into the break. Montague put the matchup away in the third quarter with 14 points from the offense and zero points allowed from the defense.
Senior Bryce Stark and sophomore Drew Collins were among the main playmakers for Montague as the former rushed for 166 yards and 2 touchdowns and the latter passed for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns. If you haven't heard Stark's name lately, then you haven't been paying much attention: he has loomed large in their past six games. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse junior Brennan Schwarz, who racked up 16 tackles.
Both teams will be heading out of the conference in their next games. Next week Montague take on Portland at 7:00 PM. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a win streak alive as Montague skips in on seven wins and Portland on eight. Ravenna will stay at home against Muskegon Heights at 7:00 PM. Muskegon Heights are limping into the game on a eight-game losing streak.
