Basketball Recap: East Valley Athletes for Christ's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

If East Valley Athletes for Christ was feeling good fresh off their 67-19 takedown of Imagine Prep Coolidge on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The East Valley Athletes for Christ Eagles fell 62-55 to Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way on Saturday. The Eagles lost against Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 74-37 score last time.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ian Porter, who posted eight points and eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds gave Porter a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Marker, who earned nine points.

Even though they lost, East Valley Athletes for Christ smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive games.

East Valley Athletes for Christ moved to 8-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

East Valley Athletes for Christ didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-18 win against Maya on the 5th. As for Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-52 victory against Premier Prep- PHHoenix on the 5th.
