The Twin Lakes Indians will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the North White Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Twin Lakes has now lost seven straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since May 8.
Twin Lakes fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against West Lafayette on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Red Devils by a score of 7-6.
Madalyn Bird spent all 9.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on 15 hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Twin Lakes saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Myley Spriggs, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Miya Clerget was another, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, North White had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against Delphi Community on Monday as they made off with a 14-4 victory.
Kaylyn Applegate made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Applegate was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, North White got a massive performance out of Adriann Conn, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Morgan Carter, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
North White always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delphi Community only posted an OBP of .333.
Twin Lakes' loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for North White, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
