The Abbeville Panthers waltzed into their matchup Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Washington-Wilkes by a score of 59-49. Given Abbeville's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 59th in South Carolina, while Washington-Wilkes is ranked 473rd in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Abbeville found their leader in underclassman Justin Rollinson, who scored 26 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rollinson has scored at least 25% of Abbeville's points. Another player making a difference was Damarcus Leach, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds.
Abbeville's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Washington-Wilkes, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Abbeville will take on Westside at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington-Wilkes, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Lincoln County at 7:30 p.m.
