Softball Recap: Millard South Has No Trouble Against Marian

Millard South won the last time they faced Marian and things went their way on Friday too. The Patriots put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ellie Gilpin was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzi McCoy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Millard South hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Millard South has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Marian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Millard South will face off against rival Millard North at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Marian is set to take on their familiar foe Omaha Westside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
