There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to St. Anthony's's senior Greg Campisi, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
The Freeport offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It took its game against Hempstead by a confident 41 - 12 score. Freeport was heavily favored coming into this contest, and the results showcase why. Thanks to its success, Freeport cracked into the power rankings and now occupies the 24th spot.
Can't Touch This
Paramus got a 40 - 13 win over Ridgefield Park last week, and a key reason for the win was junior Trevor Bopp. Bopp ran for 190 yards and also punched in four touchdowns. That performance made Bopp one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The confrontation between St. Peter's Prep (3rd in the power rankings) and DePaul Catholic (4th) did not disappoint. St. Peter's Prep was close but not close enough as it fell 16 - 13 to DePaul Catholic. The outcome was a definite jolt of excitement for St. Peter's Prep after its previous game, where the margin was anything but close.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between St. Joseph Regional (2nd in the power rankings) and Bergen Catholic (1st). Both teams have their heads held high after dominating their previous opponents. Given their high-scoring efforts against their previous opponents, we'll see how far they can run the score up this week.
