They took a 62-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Griffins. Bishop Verot's loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.
Bishop Verot's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerry Ashley, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Leroy Roker, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Bishop Verot's defeat dropped their record down to 22-6. As for Gateway Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Bishop Verot's road trip will continue as they head out to face Tampa Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Tampa Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Bishop Verot likes a good challenge. As for Gateway Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Bradenton Christian at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Gateway Charter's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 20 contests.
