The Landstown Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Currituck County Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Landstown will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Landstown's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Green Run as they made off with a 12-0 win. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.
Trey Campos made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Campos was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Colin Kim and Kyle Flora did most of the damage at the plate: Kim scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Flora scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Flora also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Dawson Hogan was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Landstown hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Green Run struck out seven times.
Meanwhile, Currituck County didn't have quite enough to beat Holmes on Friday and fell 11-10. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Becket Moore made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Dom Doran, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Landstown pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Currituck County, they now have a losing record of 6-7.
Both Landstown and Currituck County just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Currituck County struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
