The Covington Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 47-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seeger. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Covington has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Covington lost, one person who can't be blamed is Coye Ferguson. Despite the final result, he scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolten Haymaker, who scored eight points.
Covington bumped their record down to 6-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.33 points. As for Seeger, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Covington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Riverton Parke at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Seeger will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against West Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. West Lafayette is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
