Phillips Exeter Academy extended the longest winning streak in NEPSAC Freelance this week by beating Cushing Academy, 35-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Deerfield Academy moved up to 35 from 173 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Big Green climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Phillips Academy 21-7.
Loomis Chaffee's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Emmanuel Williams threw for 225 and one touchdown and Brendan Wagner had 76 yards receiving. On the ground Luvin De Leon chipped in 147 yards. A J Poplin helped Loomis Chaffee's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 75 yards.
Williams has thrown for 1244 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Poplin has 29 catches for 388 yards. De Leon leads the league in rushing with 690 yards.
The marquee game in NEPSAC Freelance this week will be the clash between Loomis Chaffee and Choate Rosemary Hall. Chuck Reid's team enters the game ranked 10th in the state, while the Wild Boars ranks 19th.
The Penguins were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after falling to Phillips Exeter Academy. Cushing Academy came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 69 last week.
