If Kingsland wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Houston, they should've done a better job of containing Jorja Meyer. The Hurricanes came out on top against the Knights by a score of 3-1 on Thursday thanks in part to Meyer, who had nine kills, six aces, four digs, and two blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played.
The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, 13-25, 25-23.
Houston's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Olivia Yohe, who had 27 assists and five digs, and Emmie Melbo, who had nine kills, nine digs, and one block. Another player making a difference was Lydia Pedretti, who had eight kills, three digs, and one block.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rushford-Peterson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Cotter on Thursday as they made off with a 3-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Houston has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season. As for Rushford-Peterson, their record now sits at 9-2.
Houston might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Rushford-Peterson in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
