Basketball Game Preview: Fitch Falcons vs. Capital Prep Trailblazers

The Fitch Falcons will take on the Capital Prep Trailblazers in a holiday battle at at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Capital Prep took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Fitch, who comes in off a win.

Fitch will head into Thursday's game having proved themselves against Windham: Fitch took a 21-point defeat the last time they faced off against Windham, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Fitch's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Xavier Goode, who went 11 of 24 en route to 36 points and six steals, and Malakhi Sabb, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Goode's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Carlos Ryhmer Hernandez, who posted no points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks.

Fitch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Capital Prep kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Prince RVT an easy 73-48 victory. The Trailblazers just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row dating back to last season.

Despite the defeat, Capital Prep saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Syre Gillespie almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. That's the most boards Gillespie has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Mha'Nye March, who had 11 points.
