After flying high against the Heritage Christian Eagles last Friday, the Cornerstone Family Saints came back down to earth. Cornerstone Family fell to Kansas City Christian School 43-37.
Cornerstone Family's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylee Heinen, who scored 17 points along with three steals. That was a full 45.9% of Cornerstone Family's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Brown, who scored ten points.
Cornerstone Family bumped their record down to 7-3 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.7 points per game. As for Kansas City Christian School, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.
Cornerstone Family will head out on the road to challenge Heritage Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Heritage Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for Kansas City Christian School, they will be playing in front of their home fans against University Academy Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
