The Bryan Bears won the last time they faced Westview, and things went their way on Friday too. Bryan sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 win over Westview. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Bryan has scored all year.
Bryan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but A'mare Bynum led the charge by scoring 13 points along with nine rebounds. The contest was Bynum's seventh in a row with at least ten points. LC Doss was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five assists.
Westview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tayvin Murphy, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Wilborn, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Bryan and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Westview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.
Bryan won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Bellevue West at 8:45 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Bellevue West has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 549 points over their last seven contests. Westview will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Bellevue East at 1:45 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Bellevue East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Westview is ranked 73rd).
