The Union City Chargers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Sturgis on the road and fell 75-48.
Despite the defeat, Union City had strong showings from Ellie Williams, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds, and Jordan Chard, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Chard pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Union City dropped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Sturgis, their victory bumped their record up to 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Union City will take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bronson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Chargers in Michigan (the Vikings are ranked 215th, while the Chargers are ranked 634th). As for Sturgis, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
