Basketball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for San Diego

San Diego won the last time they faced Del Norte and Gianna Woodson did her part to make sure it happened again. The Cavers were the clear victors by a 63-38 margin over the Nighthawks on Monday for which the team can thank Woodson, who shot 61% from the field en route to 25 points and six rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least 20 points.

Several Nighthawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Benitez, who posted 13 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Benitez now owns an excellent 45.5% three-point shooting accuracy. Molly Freer was another key player, putting up eight points.

The win made it two in a row for San Diego and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 23.5 points. As for Del Norte, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

San Diego has already played their next matchup, a 48-45 defeat against Torrey Pines on the 25th. As for Del Norte, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-44 loss against El Capitan on the 25th.
