Harpeth hasn't had much luck against Cheatham County Central recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Harpeth Indians will challenge the Cheatham County Central Cubs at 6:00 p.m.
Harpeth managed to slip by East Hickman County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Harpeth lost 10-4 to East Hickman County on Tuesday.
Taylor Riley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Cameron Hayes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Stanley, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Cheatham County Central not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 17, 2024. Everything went their way against Hickman County as Cheatham County Central made off with a 16-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Haylee Dowlen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dowlen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Gracie Weakley and Sydney Crouch did most of the damage at the plate: Weakley scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Crouch went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Crouch has posted since back in April of 2024. Sophia Dolinich was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
The win got Cheatham County Central back to even at 1-1. As for Harpeth, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Harpeth suffered a grim 15-4 defeat to Cheatham County Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Harpeth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
