Westwood hasn't had much luck against Mountain View recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Warriors will take on the Toros at 3:45 p.m. Westwood has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Westwood is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Red Mountain on Thursday. They came up short against the Mountain Lions, falling 13-1.
Westwood saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Analisa Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Red Mountain typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Mountain View proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Mountain Lions 5-4. The game was the first time the Toros have beaten the Mountain Lions on their field since April 19, 2022.
Daniella Gloria spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Keelie Goodman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadlie Goodman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Mountain View's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Westwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Westwood hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .380. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Westwood suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Mountain View when the teams last played back in March. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
