Marbury hasn't had much luck against Chilton County recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Marbury put up the most points they have all season on Tuesday. They fell 86-80 to Pike Road. While the Bulldogs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 21-16 in the first quarter.
Marbury's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Noah Trotter, who posted 26 points, and Jamar Brown, who earned 21 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was CJ Cook, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chilton County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They took down Stanhope Elmore 73-58 on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Marbury better keep an eye on Cayden Meank. He was instrumental in Chilton County's win, going 9-for-15 to rack up 23 points along with five assists and three steals. Meank's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Damarien Floyd was another key player, shooting 42% from the field en route to 21 points and five boards.
Marbury now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Chilton County, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Marbury hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 57.3 points per game. However, it's not like Chilton County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Marbury couldn't quite finish off Chilton County when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 72-69. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
