Belen has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Socorro Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Belen was the victim of a rough 65-43 loss at the hands of Lovington.
Despite the loss, Belen saw an underclassman step up: Danilynn Bob scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jaelynn Bob, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Socorro's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Pojoaque Valley on the road and fell 51-12. Socorro was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-5.
The losses dropped Belen to 3-2 and Lovington to 5-2.
Belen couldn't quite finish off Socorro in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 and fell 50-47. Can Belen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
