After a string of three wins, the Englewood Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 75-57 to Jefferson. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Englewood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Soren Singer. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals. Singer hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Singer, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Englewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Antonio Lynch continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Jefferson, scoring 32 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lynch has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Timothy Gomez, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
Englewood's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Jefferson, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14.
Englewood will take on Arrupe Jesuit at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Arrupe Jesuit focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Jefferson, they will head out on the road to take on Bruce Randolph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
