The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. This Friday Wilkinson County takes on Forest in the first playoff game of the year. Wilkinson County apparently likes to keep its enemies close seeing as it has had three games decided by three points or fewer so far this season.
Wilkinson County's encounter with Hazlehurst three weeks ago was a 22-point stomp, but the result two weeks ago was anything but. Wilkinson County was close but not close enough last game as it fell 18 - 16 to Port Gibson. The team got a solid performance out of junior Terrell Coleman Jr. (he earned two touchdowns and 177 yards rushing the ball); unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win.
As for Forest, it can now show off five landslide victories after its most recent game. It took its contest against Kemper County last week by a conclusive 37 - 8 score.
Wilkinson County's defeat dropped it to 3-6 while Forest's win brought it to 8-3. A win for Wilkinson County would reverse both its bad luck and Forest's good luck. We'll see if Wilkinson County manages to pull off that tough task or if Forest keeps its momentum going instead.
