The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave were the 65-63 winner over the Buchholz Bobcats when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. P.K. Yonge fell 45-34 to Buchholz on Monday. P.K. Yonge has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
P.K. Yonge's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashlyn Young, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Young is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Jorryn Dye, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, P.K. Yonge were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buchholz to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamison Cardwell, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Booth, who scored 12 points.
P.K. Yonge has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Buchholz, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. P.K. Yonge will challenge Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Buchholz, they will head out on the road to face off against Eastside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastside will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
