The La Marque Cougars will challenge the Royal Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Marque knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Royal likes a good challenge.
La Marque's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 73-0 win over Harmony School of Innovation. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 30 points or more this season.

La Marque's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Deuce Walker, who rushed for 17 yards and a pair of scores, and Cory Hosea, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns. Hosea is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Dameon Smith Jr was another key back, gaining 36 total yards and two touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something La Marque proved: they limited Harmony School of Innovation to a paltry -3.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Anthony James for the heroic effort on defense: he. La Marque hasn't allowed more than 9.8 yards per carry in three consecutive games.
La Marque's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up nine sacks. Brendan Harris Ii led the group effort, picking up three of those sacks all by himself.
Meanwhile, Royal fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Columbia on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 28-21 to the Roughnecks. The loss continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Roughnecks: they've now lost three in a row.
La Marque pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points over those games. As for Royal, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.
La Marque was taken down by Royal 38-2 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Cougars, Noah Lasker (who rushed for 131 yards and one TD, and also picked up 32 receiving yards and one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
