It was a good run, but Thomson unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Burke County Bears by a score of 5-4. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 13-0 to the Bears when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Dalton Gergen was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Logan Robinson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Thomson's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-3. As for Burke County, their record is now 3-7.
