The Taylor Wildcats will take on the DeLand Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Taylor's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
It was a proper cat-fight when Taylor duked it out with Pine Ridge on Friday. Everything went Taylor's way against Pine Ridge as Taylor made off with a 17-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won nine in a row.
Savannah Pearson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Amya Ramos was a standout: she fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Caydence Hassell was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Taylor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine Ridge only posted an OBP of .467.
Meanwhile, DeLand came up short against Space Coast on Wednesday and fell 7-3.
DeLand saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tameeya Hill, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Hill also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
DeLand's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Taylor, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
DeLand's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Taylor has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for DeLand, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Taylor's sizable advantage in that area, DeLand will need to find a way to close that gap.
Taylor took their victory against DeLand in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2. Does Taylor have another victory up their sleeve, or will DeLand turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
