The Coronado Leopards lost against the Legacy Academy Silverbacks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Coronado took a 55-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy Academy. Coronado has struggled against Legacy Academy recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Coronado got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Ashlynn Jaramillo and
Paris Chavez, who each put up no points.
Legacy Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Johnson out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Cheyenne Snoddy was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven steals and six assists.
Coronado has not been sharp recently as the team has lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Legacy Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-9.
Coronado will head out on the road to square off against Jemez Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Legacy Academy, they will be playing at home against Bosque at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Legacy Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Thursday.
