Wolverine B - South recap October 8, 2013
Bailey Miholer-Wortinger of Three Rivers ran for the longest rushing play in Wolverine B - South this season against Berrien Springs last week. Miholer-Wortinger's team bested the Shamrocks as he sprinted for 92 yards on the play and finished with 121 in all.
Edwardsburg extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Coloma, 45-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Eddies.
Three Rivers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Alex Cottingham threw for 104 and 2 touchdowns and Miholer-Wortinger had 42 yards receiving. On the ground Miholer-Wortinger chipped in 121 yards. Zak Zagon helped Three Rivers' passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.
Miholer-Wortinger provided a threat through the air and on the ground as JJ Wagner's team topped Berrien Springs. Miholer-Wortinger's key target this week was Miholer-Wortinger, who caught 4 passes for 42 yards.
Cottingham put up the best numbers through the air as the Wildcats topped Bill Bergan's team.
Three Rivers' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cottingham has thrown for 725 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Kyle Walczak has 21 catches for 385 yards.
The Shamrocks are currently in fourth, while Edwardsburg is in first.
Three Rivers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,579 from 4,766. The improvement was the result of a 35-34 victory over Berrien Springs last week.
