The Lafayette Christian Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Flint River Academy Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Flint River Academy took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lafayette Christian, who comes in off a win.
Even though Lafayette Christian has not done well against Central Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lafayette Christian snuck past Central Christian with a 49-44 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lafayette Christian.
Carmen Bridges continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 18 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Marta Oria, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Flint River Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They were beaten by Strong Rock Christian 37-10. Flint River Academy found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 24 to 9 on offense.
The win got Lafayette Christian back to even at 5-5. As for Flint River Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Lafayette Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Flint River Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lafayette Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Flint River Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 36-31 win.
