Pueblo Central is 1-9 against Pueblo County since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Hornets at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
On Tuesday, Pueblo Central got the win against Pueblo Centennial by a conclusive 3-0.
Pueblo Central's got stronger as the match went on, holding Pueblo Centennial to fewer and fewer points set over set. The final score came out to 26-24, 25-20, 25-14.
Pueblo Central relied on the efforts of Ashlynn Saenz, who had 17 digs and one assist, and Melany Decasas Falcon, who had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces Decasas Falcon has posted since back in August.
They weren't the only good servers: Pueblo Central was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 15 consecutive matches.

Pueblo County extended their home winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Emma Garcia. Everything went the Hornets' way against Pueblo South on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win thanks in part to Garcia, who had six aces and three digs. Saenz has been hot, having also posted 17 or more digs the last five times she's played.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Pueblo County was: they took every set by at least 13 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-7.
Pueblo County's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Pueblo Central, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's contest: Pueblo Central hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 6.9 blocks per game. It's a different story for Pueblo County, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 blocks. Given Pueblo Central's sizable advantage in that area, the Hornets will need to find a way to close that gap.
