The Littleton Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 60-52 to Dakota Ridge. While losing is never fun, Littleton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 226th, while Dakota Ridge is ranked 45th).
When it comes to explaining why Littleton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Treyton Fletcher. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 55.8% of Littleton's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Brooks, who scored three points along with five rebounds and two steals.
It was another big night for Ethan Berninger, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks for Dakota Ridge. That's the first time this season that Berninger posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Schneider, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Littleton has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Dakota Ridge, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littleton will take on D'Evelyn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully D'Evelyn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Friday. As for Dakota Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Standley Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
