The Griffin Bears scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Westside for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-22 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Griffin has managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Griffin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Rinayah Harris, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Naima Foster, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the defeat, Westside had strong showings from Destiny Spencer, who scored seven points along with 14 rebounds, and Taylor Frazier, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Frazier set a new season high mark in blocks with three.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Westside struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Griffin posted 11 assists.
The win makes it two in a row for Griffin and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Westside, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Griffin will square off against West Laurens at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully West Laurens focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against Rutland at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rutland comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
