Nathanael White made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Sean Finch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
J.P. Stevens came out on top against Dunellen on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Hawks blew past the Destroyers 11-3. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Soham Prajapati was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because J.P. Stevens is 8-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5-1 otherwise. Prajapati was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Arav Patel and Chace Sullivan did most of the damage at the plate: Patel went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Sullivan went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Sullivan a new career-high. Aarush Patel was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
J.P. Stevens always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dunellen only posted an OBP of .355.
J.P. Stevens has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Somerset Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 9-5.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Somerset Tech hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like J.P. Stevens struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
