Basketball Recap: Calvary Day School Comes Up Short

After flying high against Clayton on Saturday, Calvary Day School came back down to earth. The Cougars were dealt a 92-48 loss at the hands of the Concord Academy Eagles on Monday. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-26.

Despite the loss, Calvary Day School still got an impressive performance from Owen Calvert, who posted 16 points and three steals. Calvert's evening made it 23 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Luca Sarnowska was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Concord Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonas Agyeman, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Cruz Miller, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 17 points and seven assists.

Calvary Day School's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Concord Academy, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Coming up, Calvary Day School will be playing at home against Asheville Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd. The Lions have insisted on making their last three contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Concord Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 91-17 victory against Lakeside on the 29th.
