The Karns City Gremlins will take on the Brockway Rovers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Karns City didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Westinghouse, but they still walked away with a 28-24 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gremlins.
Karns City's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Johnston, who rushed for 75 yards and three scores. Another back making a difference was Hunter Scherer, who rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Karns City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was Karns City's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Leading the way was Mason Bell with three. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Shane Emrick was another major factor on D, picking up 1.5 sacks and making 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Brockway). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Bradford 61-6. Given the Rovers' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Owls are ranked 436th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brockway's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Karns City, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-2.
Everything came up roses for Karns City against Brockway in their previous meeting back in August of 2019, as the squad secured a 43-14 win. In that matchup, the Gremlins amassed a halftime lead of 29-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
