Metamora waltzed into their contest on Thursday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-66 win over the Wheaton North Falcons. Given the Redbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Falcons are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Metamora's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Wheaton North, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.

Metamora and Palatine will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Metamora's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches. As for Wheaton North, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Glenbard North at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
