After a string of four wins, the Cape Fear Academy Hurricanes's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were the victim of a rough 76-55 loss at the hands of Greenfield. Cape Fear Academy has not had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Cape Fear Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kareem Anderson, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Isaiah Gibson who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Anderson is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Fajardo, who scored six points.
Cape Fear Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Greenfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cape Fear Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Saints at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully John Paul II Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Friday. As for Greenfield, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Eagles at 8:00 p.m. on January 30th. Wayne Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 224th, while the Knights are ranked 35th).
