The Cane Ridge Ravens lost against the Hillsboro Burros back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cane Ridge took a 56-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hillsboro. While losing is never fun, Cane Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Hillsboro is ranked 14th).
Cane Ridge lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyshaun Poore, who scored 12 points along with two blocks. Poore continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Avyion Mccleton, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hillsboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavier Washington, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Washington pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arnez Anderson, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.
Cane Ridge's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8. As for Hillsboro, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cane Ridge is on the road again on Friday and plays Overton at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Cane Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season. As for Hillsboro, they will head out on the road to challenge Hunters Lane at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hillsboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Hunters Lane likes a good challenge.
