Elkton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Joppatowne Mariners at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Elkton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Elkton lost to North Harford at home by a decisive 44-30 margin. Elkton has struggled against North Harford recently, as their match on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
LeeAnn Pugh put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Joppatowne's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 45-19 defeat at the hands of Havre de Grace. While losing is never fun, Joppatowne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Havre de Grace is ranked 91st).
Elkton's loss was their tenth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Joppatowne, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
Elkton came up short against Joppatowne in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 54-49. Can Elkton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
