Last Friday, Langston Hughes blew past Newnan, posting a 77-46 win at home. Given Langston Hughes' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Newnan is ranked 184th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Langston Hughes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Catholic, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brentis Schaeffer, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, even though Hiram scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, South Paulding still came out on top. South Paulding took their matchup against Hiram 72-61. The victory made it back-to-back wins for South Paulding.
Langston Hughes' victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for South Paulding, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Langston Hughes came up short against South Paulding in their previous meeting back in February, falling 57-52. Can Langston Hughes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
