McGuffey has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Charleroi Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
McGuffey can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Thursday. They put the hurt on Yough with a sharp 57-31 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory McGuffey has posted since December 11, 2023.
It was another big night for Alexis Ewig, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Brownlee, who scored five points.
Meanwhile, Charleroi scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against California by a score of 62-47 (the very same score they lost by the week prior).
Bella Carroto was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Charleroi's points. Another player making a difference was Ella Sypolt, who scored 13 points.
McGuffey's record is now 11-2. Charleroi's record is now 6-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: McGuffey hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.7 points per game. It's a different story for Charleroi, though, as they've been averaging only 46.5 points per game. The only thing between McGuffey and another offensive beatdown is Charleroi. Will they be able to keep them contained?
McGuffey beat Charleroi 53-46 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does McGuffey have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charleroi turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
