The St. John XXIII Lions will challenge the Village Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
It was a proper cat-fight when St. John XXIII took on St. Agnes Academy on Tuesday. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 3-2.
St. John XXIII took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-20, 22-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-13.

St. John XXIII's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Zoe Ramirez, who had 20 digs and three aces, and Carla Munoz, who had 11 digs and one assist. Ramirez has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more digs the last four times she's played.
Meanwhile, Village was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight defeat. They came up short against Concordia Lutheran, falling 3-0.
Village may have fallen short, but they were sure consistent: they scored zero points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-0, 25-0, 25-0.
Village's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for St. John XXIII, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-18.
St. John XXIII took their win against Village when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
