If the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs were feeling good off their 74-22 takedown of the Rocky Ford Meloneers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Pueblo Centennial took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sierra on Friday. Pueblo Centennial lost against Sierra in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 65-49 score last time.
Jeffrey Valdez and Jackson Jacob certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Valdez scored 14 points along with five assists and three steals, while Jacob scored 20 points. Valdez scored a full 29.2% of Pueblo Centennial's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pueblo Centennial struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pueblo Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Sierra, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pueblo Centennial will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Sand Creek at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Sierra will be home for the holidays to greet Widefield at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Widefield is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
