It was a good run, but the Brawley Wildcats unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 51-40 to Central. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Brawley in their matchups with Central: they've now lost eight in a row.
Brawley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Domanic Vallejo, who scored 19 points. Vallejo scored a full 47.5% of Brawley's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Flores, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Brawley struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jared Martin led the charge by scoring 13 points. The contest was Martin's fifth in a row with at least ten points. David Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Brawley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Central, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Brawley and Aliso Niguel will round out the year against one another at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Aliso Niguel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brawley in California (Aliso Niguel is ranked 169th, while Brawley is ranked 704th). Central will be home for the holidays to greet Holtville at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
