The Smith-Cotton Tigers were the 78-54 winner over the Marshall Owls when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Smith-Cotton took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Marshall on Monday. Smith-Cotton's defeat keeps them winless this season.
Marshall got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brody Kueker out in front who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Kueker's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Stephen Caviness was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Smith-Cotton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Marshall, their victory bumped their record up to 1-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith-Cotton will take on Versailles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Versailles is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for Marshall, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Moberly at 8:00 p.m. on December 15th.
