Nolan Martinez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has become a key player for Arcadia: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-10 otherwise. Martinez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Colin Nusser and Owen Rader did most of the damage at the plate: Nusser went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Rader went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs Rader has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Andrew Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Arcadia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vanlue only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, North Baltimore was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Upper Scioto Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 1st.
North Baltimore's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Arcadia, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Arcadia took their victory against North Baltimore in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Redskins repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
